Sample Parent Letter
Welcome to your class or activity name. During this rotation, your child will be completing an online tutorial, Teen Learning 2.0 that will introduce students to a selection of free Web 2.0 online software tools, such as blogging, image generators, Google documents, and social bookmarking sites. This will give your child the opportunity to build new technology and productivity skills he/she can use both for school and personal projects. Teen Learning 2.0 was just developed by a team of teacher librarians from the California School Library Association as an adaptation of their earlier online tutorials for teacher librarians and classroom teachers.
While students will create a blog and post information about their experiences with the tools online, they will create accounts that will not reveal any identifying personal information, and the project will also help them to learn more about being responsible digital citizens.
Students will do most of the activities for this online course during class time. The activities will be posted on my class web page so that you can follow your child’s progress.
Please fill out the form at the bottom of this letter to allow permission to have your child participate in this activity. To see the model for this class, please visit your blog address.
Please contact me with any questions. You can reach me by email at your email address.
Thanks very much for your support of what I am confident will be a fun and enriching experience for your child.
